Supreme Court Ruling Changes Entire Doctrine Of Joint Enterprise In R v Jogee

Many individuals found guilty of murder under the rule of ‘joint enterprise’ could potentially appeal their convictions after the UK’s highest court ruled that the law had been wrongly interpreted for 30 years.
The Supreme Court has declared that a key test imposed by judges in assessing guilt in joint enterprise cases – where the accused acts in conjunction with the killer but does not strike the blow that causes death – had been incorrectly applied.
Government Backtrack On Its Controversial Plans For A ‘Two Tier’ System Of Awarding Duty Contracts

The plans, which would have reduced the number of law firms allowed to do legal aid work at police stations and magistrates' courts have been dropped, and an 8.75% cut to legal aid fees lawyers earn has been suspended for a year.
Michael Gove said the Ministry of Justice had faced a large number of legal challenges over the plans, and many lawyers claim the reforms would have damaged quality and access to justice.
